Dr Tessa Murdoch FSA worked at the Museum of London from 1981-1990 and at the V&A from 1990-2021. Her book Europe Divided: Huguenot Refugee Art and Culture was published by the V&A in November 2021. She was also a consultant on a recent publication, Great Irish Households: Inventories from the long eighteenth century (John Adamson, November 2022), and is co-editing A Cultural History of Craft in the Age of Enlightenment with Dr Heike Zech for publication by Bloomsbury in 2025.

 

The Gideon De Laune Lecture honours the Royal Apothecary responsible for the Royal Charter that separated the Apothecaries from the Grocers’ Company and established the Society as an independent City Livery Company.
